How do we get our young people to come to be excited for these gatherings and begin to get themselves involved?
At first, the ministry will be small and take time to develop; however, I am hopeful with the enthusiasm that we have had so far. The best way we can encourage young people to attend is to be very hospitable and invite them with our hearts. The parish needs to take a stake in this and be a welcoming community that lifts our young people up. Once they have their foot through the door, we must acknowledge that this is a big step for them and continue to invite them. The best advocate for the youth program will be the young people themselves inviting each other to attend.
Is Confirmation right for my child?
Do not be discouraged if your child is against receiving the sacrament. Sometimes, it is not the right time for them to be confirmed. The best we can do for young people is to encourage them to have a real and authentic relationship with Christ first. Therefore, we have in addition to our Confirmation program a youth ministry program that shows the love of Christ through relationships our young people build with each other.
